What is Jerusalem cherry?

Jerusalem cherry (Solanum pseudocapsicum)

Jerusalem cherry is a plant with glossy blue-green leaves and fruits that look similar to cherry tomatoes. It is often used as a decoration around Christmas. It is also called Christmas cherry and winter cherry.
Jerusalem cherry is harmful to eat.
Symptoms
What happens if you eat Jerusalem cherry?
If you eat a few berries or leaves, you may feel sick to your stomach, throw up or have diarrhea.
If you eat a larger amount you could:
- Get drowsy
- Have hallucinations
- Have problems with your heart rate

What should I do if someone has eaten Jerusalem cherry?
If someone has eaten part of a Jerusalem cherry plant:
- Take all the pieces out of their mouth.
- Give them a few sips of water or milk.
- Call the poison center at 1-800-222-1222, or text POISON to 85511.

How can I prevent Jerusalem cherry poisoning?
